How we check age

What counts as explicit here

On this site, “explicit content” means a depiction of nudity or of sexual conduct. Content that is suggestive, including glamour, swimwear and lingerie, is not explicit for this purpose. This applies to every image and video on the site, however it was produced.

Where the check happens

The check runs before the content is delivered, not after. It sits in front of the site rather than inside an account, so it applies to a visitor who has never signed in, and it applies to the image and video files themselves, not only to the pages that link to them. Signing in does not change what a visitor in a checked region can reach, and neither does buying credit.

What we accept as proof

We do not accept a person’s own statement of their age as proof in a place whose law requires more. Where the law requires more, we do not serve explicit content at all, and nothing you can buy or sign up for changes that.

We have not adopted an identity or age estimation method. If we do, this page will name it, say what it looks at, and say what happens to anything it collects, before it goes live.

Where we do not serve explicit content at all

In a country or a US state whose law requires an age check we cannot yet provide, we serve no explicit content rather than serve it unchecked. In the United Kingdom we show none of the site except this page and our terms, privacy, 2257 and DMCA pages. In those US states, we show only performer headshots and content we have marked as non-explicit; other images and video are not shown, and the rest of the site stays open.

What we keep

Nothing about a visitor’s region check is stored. Your IP address is used once to work out where you are, and is held in memory only long enough to avoid repeating that lookup. It is not written to a database and it is not written to our logs. Our privacy policy covers everything else we hold.
